 Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To administer and enforce the Explosives Act, 1956 (Act 26 of 1956, as amended) and Regulations (GNR 1604 of 8 September 1972, as amended) including to:

    Investigate explosives-related offences and incidents;

    • Conduct inspections pertaining to explosives magazines and dealers;
    • Issue permits pertaining to blasting, transporting, importing, exporting, transit, fireworks displays and use of pyrotechnics; and
    • Conduct explosives security sweeps in respect of H.E. the President of the Republic of Namibian, Former Presidents, visiting Heads of State and
    • Government and other VIPs.

1. Nearest Police Stations
2. Namibian Police Force Members
3. Namibian Defence Force Members
4. Regional Governors
5. Councilors
6. Community Leaders
7. Church Leaders
8. Teachers
9. Business Communities
10. Media
2. SAFETY MEASURES BEFORE REPORTING:
1. Identification
2. Mark it to prevent further incidents
3. Report it as soon as possible
3. DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION
• Report any suspicious item you have
encountered.
• Inform family members, friends, neighbors
and cattle herders to stay away from UXO’s
and Mines.
4. UXO’S AND MINE AWARENESS EDUCATION
• Meeting with the Community
• Distributions of Posters / Pamphlets
• Liaise with Media and other Stakeholders

Business Communities
