INTRODUCTION ON E-POLICING
- It is now common knowledge that the Management of the Force under the leadership of the Inspector-General, took a milestone decision to transform the Namibian Police Force into a Force ready to rise to the policing challenges posed by the 21st century criminal enterprises.
- To this end, various projects were identified, which include the development of the NamPol Management Strategic Plan 2011-2014,(which was successfully completed and lodged on the 16 August 2011, by the Minister of Safety and Security Honourable Nangolo Mbumba), the National Crime Combating Strategy, Capacity Building, DNA, Police Dogs, Mounted Police, Crime Stoppers, Electronic Policing (E-Policing) etc.
- I will be sharing information with our valuable readers on strategic developments, taking place in the Force, including but not limited to these projects. It is also important to point out that, the Inspector-General appointed a Strategic Planning and Development Committee (SPDC), which is the driving force behind these initiatives. This transformation process will enhance NAMPOL's capacity on both human resources and infrastructures, in order to render the necessary quality service, as laid down in both the Namibian Constitution and the Police Act, with due consideration for the fundamental human rights and freedoms of the people we serve, without compromising in upholding the tenets of law and order, safety and security of all persons.
