- Airwing Directorate meeting Nampol and British Community police
What is Community Policing?
The Namibian Police Force recognises the fact that it cannot, on its own, effectively carry out its mandated duties to preserve the internal security of Namibia; maintain law and order; investigate any offence or alleged offence; the prevention of crime and the protection of life and property, as this can only be achieved with the assistance of other government institutions, the business community and individual citizens.
It is for this reason that Nampol has embraced the concept of community policing that promotes an active partnership between the public and the police. community Policing is premised on the principle that the Police and the community need to work together as equal partners to prevent, identify and solve community based crime and social disorder to ensure stable, crime free communities.
Community Policing focuses on three core objectives:
- crime prevention;
- crime identification; and
- timely intervention to deal with issues before they become problems
